About Heliopsis: Heliopsis performs original music for cello and various instruments from Sub-Saharan Africa. Their music ranges from raucous and dance-like to serene and peaceful. Each tune includes an element of improvisation, so no two performances are exactly the same.
Program Description: In their Class Notes Concert, Heliopsis presents a variety of musical concepts (such as rhythm and melody) through interactive games and dance. Younger students should be ready to sing and do some body percussion. Older students should bring their instruments, so they can join Nyttu and Mikey in an improvisation activity.

Thank you! This is an incredible program that is such a gift to our students (and staff!). Our students love music but often have limited access to performances, even in our city full of the arts. We are so grateful that Class Notes is working to bridge that gap. We also appreciate the diverse options of performers so that our students can see themselves mirrored in the musicians they see and hear.— Music Teacher, Minneapolis
I really appreciate the variety of the ensembles available to choose from in the Class Notes offering. Thank you for the opportunity!— Strings Teacher, Wayzata
This program is a treasure. It is incredible to have world class musicians come into my classroom during the school day for FREE and provide an educational concert experience for my students. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!— Choir Director, Hopkins
