La Grande Bande

About La Grande Bande: La Grande Bande are an ensemble of varying sizes and combinations. For the 2025-26 school year, La Grande Bande’s Class Notes ensemble will include voice, viola da gamba, Baroque cello, and organ. La Grande Bande specialize in Baroque music and also play music from other eras.

Program Description: La Grande Bande's Class Notes Concert will cover a wide range of Baroque-era music. Students will be introduced to the concept of ornamentation and baroque-specific instruments. Students will understand the differences between viola da gamba and cello, and some key characteristics of ornamentation, Baroque-era improvisation, and Baroque dance movements.
