Learning Objective: Students will be introduced to the bassoon
Total Video Time: 1:25 (lesson only); 4:56 (with extension)
Meet bassoonist Emma Plehal! She will tell you about her instrument and why she chose to play it.
The bassoon is a woodwind instrument and uses a double reed.
The bassoon is a long wooden tube folded over. If you unfolded it, it would be about 8 feet long! The part where it’s folded over (at the bottom) is called a U-Tube.
Thumbs are very important for bassoon players! There are many keys on the back of the instrument just for thumbs.
Here is some more music for the bassoon.
