INTRODUCTION

Meet flutist Bethany Summersgill! She will tell you about her instrument and why she chose to play it.

FUN FACTS

  • The flute is one of the oldest instruments in the world.

  • Throughout history, flutes have been made of many different materials, including bone, wood, and glass.

  • The modern flute has many relatives, including the dizi, a Chinese flute made from bamboo. Watch and listen to Ammy Lin play the dizi here.
