INTRODUCTION

Meet trombone player Felix Regalado. He will tell you about his instrument and why he chose to play it.

FUN FACTS

  • The trombone is the only modern brass instrument without valves, or buttons that help players find pitches. Instead of using valves, trombone players use their slide.

  • The slide makes it possible for a trombone player to play a “sad trombone” sound or a glissando, a sound that is made when sliding from one pitch to another.

  • In the French language, the word “trombone” also means “paper clip.” Take a look at a paper clip and see if you can see a resemblance.
