Meet trombone player Felix Regalado. He will tell you about his instrument and why he chose to play it.
The trombone is the only modern brass instrument without valves, or buttons that help players find pitches. Instead of using valves, trombone players use their slide.
The slide makes it possible for a trombone player to play a “sad trombone” sound or a glissando, a sound that is made when sliding from one pitch to another.
In the French language, the word “trombone” also means “paper clip.” Take a look at a paper clip and see if you can see a resemblance.
