INTRODUCTION

Meet percussionist Eri Isomura! She will tell you about several instruments she plays and why she chose to play in the percussion section.

FUN FACTS

  • There are literally hundreds of percussion instruments. “Body percussion” means using your own body to create rhythmic patterns, maybe by clapping your hands or stomping your feet. Percussion is anything you strike, shake, or scrape to make a sound.

  • Mallet percussion is a subgroup of the percussion family that includes bells, xylophone, vibraphone, and marimba. These instruments, unlike some percussion instruments, can play melodies.

LISTEN and WATCH

Here is some more music featuring many percussion instruments. How many instruments can you name?
